Local drains
Built 1979 to 1995
Woodvale stayed mostly rural until the late 1970s. Houses started going up in 1979, and the suburb was finished by 1995 with the release of the Woodvale Waters estate. So the oldest drains here are in their late forties and the newest are past thirty.
That's younger than the coastal suburbs, but not young. Water Corporation's guide to planting trees near pipes warns that suburbs over 20 years old are less likely to have PVC wastewater pipes, and that a root needs only a hairline fracture to get in. We'd rather see your pipe on camera than guess what it's made of.
