Scarborough was subdivided in 1885 and again in 1892, when Patrick Callaghan named it after the Yorkshire seaside town. The lots sold poorly and were re-subdivided into smaller blocks in 1914. The big building wave came after World War II, and by the 1960s there was little undeveloped land left. The City of Stirling describes housing that ranges from timber-framed workers' houses to 1960s flats, with redevelopment along the beach front from the mid-1980s.
So a lot of Scarborough plumbing is now sixty years old or more, and older pipe is where roots and settling ground find the joints. Shared lines in unit blocks add another twist: one blockage can back up into more than one home.
Our job notes from August 2024 to September 2026 cover 84 Scarborough jobs. About a third mention relining, more than a quarter mention tree roots, and more than one in six mention a collapsed or broken pipe.
In August 2026 a Scarborough home had tree roots growing down the sewer riser shaft near the water meter. The camera found a cracked junction letting them in. We cut the roots out, jetted the line, checked it again on camera and quoted a junction reline as the long-term repair.
