Local drains
Market gardens to car yards
Osborne Park began as market gardens. Chinese market gardeners grew vegetables here for Perth in the early 1900s, and Italian settlers later farmed the peaty soil of the swamps between Lake Monger and Herdsman Lake. Osborne Primary School opened in 1903 for the children of market gardeners and dairy farmers. The suburb became residential after World War II, and by the 1980s industry dominated most of it, with homes mainly left in the north-east.
Today it is warehouses, car yards, small businesses and big retailers, with Scarborough Beach Road described as the largest car yard precinct in Australia and a cafe strip along Main Street. Commercial drains take heavy daily use, and a blockage can stop a business trading.
Our job notes from August 2024 to September 2026 cover 61 Osborne Park bookings. Toilets, the sewer line and tree roots each come up in about one in seven of them.
In March 2026 we cleared a main line blockage on a strata property in Osborne Park. The jetter removed roots growing through a clay pipe joint, and the camera confirmed the line was flowing and showed the owners what had caused it, ahead of a permanent repair.
