Named in 1971 after Walter Padbury
The suburb took its name in 1971, after the Western Australian settler Walter Padbury. Locals still use two older names: Hepburn Heights for the south-east corner and Pinnaroo Heights for the eastern end.
Padbury has been a suburb since 1971, well past the 20-year mark Water Corporation uses when it warns that older suburbs are less likely to have PVC wastewater pipes. It also notes that a hairline crack is enough for a root. Our camera tells you which kind of pipe you have and whether a root has already found it.
