Local drains
Built in waves, 1976 to the 1990s
Heathridge wasn't built all at once. The first land went on sale in 1976 in the pocket bounded by Caridean Street, Admiral Grove, Ocean Reef Road and Marmion Avenue. The north and east were rezoned for housing in 1978 and released through the 1980s, and the previously empty northern and western areas filled in during the late 1990s.
So two houses a few streets apart can have drains twenty years apart in age. Water Corporation says suburbs over 20 years old are less likely to have PVC wastewater pipes, and every part of Heathridge has now passed that mark.
Our job notes from August 2024 to September 2026 cover 82 Heathridge jobs. More than four in ten mention the sewer line, more than a quarter mention tree roots, and more than one in ten mention a collapsed or broken pipe.
In August 2026 a Heathridge home had a whole-house sewer blockage. We jetted about 20 metres down the line from the rear inspection opening and cleared it. The follow-up camera inspection found heavy root intrusion and a crushed section of pipe in the Water Corporation main, about 10 metres past the inspection point.
